Active ingredient landscape

Botanicals + essential oils

  • Pyrethrum (extracted from chrysanthemum) - knock-down for many pests; UV-degrades fast; NOT pyrethroid (synthetic pyrethrum is conventional chemistry)
  • Rosemary, peppermint, clove, thyme oils - repellent + some kill activity; short residual

  4. Minimal-impact chemistry when used - botanical + microbial + targeted boric acid
  5. Customer education - what they must do (sanitation, exclusion gaps you can't reach)
  6. Honest scope - confirm in writing that for X situation, conventional chemistry may be the only effective option + green is not realistic

Pricing premium: 20 - 50% over conventional. Customer retention typically HIGHER than conventional once enrolled.

The honest sale of green pest control is "minimal-impact integrated pest management" - not "we never use any chemicals." Telling a customer you can solve a heavy infestation with cedar oil + diatomaceous earth alone is a lie that fails within 2 visits + the customer cancels. The professional pitch: "We use the least-impact effective option for each situation. For most preventive work, that's botanical + IPM. For severe infestations, we'll discuss whether to escalate to a targeted conventional product OR if non-treatment options (heat, vacuum, exclusion) can succeed in your case."
