Tucker Cobra Vs ProSystem Pole - Buy Decision
Why this matters
The water-fed pole is the single most-used piece of capital equipment on a window cleaning crew. Picking the wrong pole costs the operator three ways: weight-induced fatigue that limits productive reach hours per shift, repair frequency that takes the pole out of service mid-route, and resale value when the pole rotates out of the fleet in 18 to 36 months. Tucker Cobra and Tucker ProSystem are two distinct platforms inside the same manufacturer's lineup and a one-tier price difference can swing your effective cost per crew-hour by 20%. This article frames the buy decision against the route profile you actually run.
What Cobra is
Cobra is Tucker USA's modular carbon-fiber pole platform aimed at the high-reach segment, with maximum working heights from 30 feet (Cobra 30) to 80 feet (Cobra 80). Sections are 1.4 mm wall carbon fiber with a polyurethane internal water channel. Clamps are the Tucker Quick-Clamp generation 3 with cam-lever release. Cobra is sold as a stand-alone pole with brush plug-on; it does not include the pump cart.
Strengths:
- Lowest weight per foot in the Tucker line: Cobra 60 weighs 7.8 lb fully collapsed, versus the equivalent ProSystem 60 at 11.2 lb.
- Stiffest top-end at maximum extension: critical for keeping the brush square on the glass past 40 feet of reach.
- Modular section replacement: any single damaged section is field-replaceable in 15 minutes with a hex key.
Trade-offs:
- Higher unit MSRP than ProSystem at equivalent height.

What ProSystem is
ProSystem is Tucker's value-engineered pole line aimed at routine residential and commercial low-rise work, with working heights from 24 feet (ProSystem 24) to 45 feet (ProSystem 45). Hybrid construction: lower sections in glass-filled composite, upper sections in carbon fiber. Clamps are the Tucker standard twist-lock.
Strengths:
- Lower MSRP at the volume-shipping 30-foot configuration.
- Twist-lock clamps are simpler to service and tolerate years of crew abuse before requiring rebuild.
- Composite lower sections shrug off the typical garage-door bump or van-rack impact.
Trade-offs:
- 40% heavier per foot at the 30-foot working configuration.
- Maximum reach capped at 45 feet, which excludes most third-story residential and any commercial high-rise.
- Less stiff at maximum extension, requires more operator effort to keep brush square at the top of the reach window.

- Clamp repair cycles. Cobra Quick-Clamp generation 3 rebuild kit is $40 with 45 minutes of shop time; ProSystem twist-lock service is rare but the entire section is the field-replace unit at $180 when it does fail.

When to NOT buy either
If your route is 100% ground-level commercial storefront with no reach above 12 feet, neither pole is the right answer. A traditional 18-inch squeegee with a 6-foot extension pole outproduces any water-fed system at that working height. Reserve water-fed for jobs where the alternative is a ladder, a lift, or a scaffold.
Fleet standardization
Mixing Cobra and ProSystem in a small fleet creates a parts-bin problem: clamp kits do not interchange, jet assemblies are different threads, hose connectors do not cross. For fleets under 6 poles, standardize on one platform. For fleets over 6 poles, standardize ProSystem for the residential trucks and Cobra for the commercial trucks. Capture the standard in the Settings - Custom Fields tab on Vehicles so the dispatcher can see at a glance which pole platform is in which truck before reassigning a crew.
