Ground-Mount vs. Roof-Mount Solar Installation
Why this matters

When to choose ground-mount
Strong reasons:
- Roof orientation is poor (heavy north-facing, steep east/west)
- Roof is shaded
- Roof condition is questionable (older roof; major work needed)
- Customer wants larger system than roof can support
- Customer has substantial unused land
Moderate reasons:
- Aesthetic preference (visible from street vs. visible on ground)
- Easier maintenance / cleaning access
- Future planning (will install before roof replacement)
Weak reasons:
- "It might be cheaper" (often not, when including land + foundation)
- "I read that it's better" (depends on the specific property)
When to choose roof-mount
Strong reasons:
- South-facing roof with good sun exposure
- New or recently-installed roof
- Limited land
- Aesthetic preference for "hidden" panels
- HOA prohibits ground mounts
