Why this matters

Electrical pricing has the highest legitimate justification for premium rates of any service trade - licensing requirements, code compliance, liability exposure, + actual safety stakes are all real. True hourly rate for electrical

Loaded labor cost starts from the journeyman's wage, then stacks on:

  • Basic Level 2 install: existing 240V outlet OR proximate panel; the entry-level tier
  • Mid-tier install: panel work + a new 40 - 100A circuit; roughly double the basic tier
  • Premium install: service upgrade + dedicated circuit + smart charger; the largest standard tier
  • Bidirectional (V2H): vehicle-to-home backup capability; the highest-ticket EV install by a wide margin

Higher tickets warrant detailed quotes + financing options.

Generator install pricing

Whole-home generator install builds up from equipment cost (residential 14 - 22 kW units) marked up at roughly 1.7x, plus labor (typically 10 - 20 hours), plus permits + inspection, plus the concrete pad + gas line work. The equipment + markup line dominates the total.

Financing common (Wisetack, GreenSky); commercial-grade insurance discount available for some customers.

Maintenance plan structure

Sample electrical maintenance plan, billed as a modest annual fee:

  • Annual electrical inspection + thermal scan + 15% repair discount + priority + no service-call fee
  • Contractor cost per visit runs a fraction of the collected fee, similar to HVAC's maintenance-plan math
  • Member lifetime value runs several multiples higher than a non-member's, on the strength of repeat repair calls

Less commonly purchased than HVAC plans; electrical maintenance feels less urgent.

Panel + service upgrade pricing

Major-ticket work:

Service upgrade (100A → 200A) builds up from the new panel, the new service entrance + meter, labor (typically 8 - 16 hours), and the permit + inspection fee.

Customer sees a small monthly payment instead of the full project total; you capture the deal at full margin (less the small merchant fee).
